High-frequency electrotherapy
1. Overview
The method of applying the current above the frequency of 100KHZ or the formed electric field, magnetic field or electromagnetic field to treat diseases is called high-frequency electrotherapy. Nowadays, high-frequency electrotherapy is not only applied in the treatment of many acute and chronic diseases, but also applied in the rehabilitation of disabilities and the treatment of malignant tumors. High-frequency electrotherapy has become an integral part of modern physical therapy.
Microwave therapy is one of electrotherapy, the microwave generated by which can be transmitted to the treatment site through the probe, causing high-frequency oscillation of water molecules and ions in the treated tissue, generating a lot of energy to promote the blood circulation and tissue metabolism, thus achieving the treatment target.
2. Therapeutic effects
(1) Thermal effect: due to the movement of particles in the human tissue caused by high-frequency current, endogenous thermal effect can be generated in the tissue to promote the local blood circulation and accelerate the metabolism to rapidly discharge the metabolic wastes and inflammatory substances generated in the human body, thus bringing the anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling and analgesic effects. Applies to chronic soft tissue injury, osteoarthritis, rherheumatoid arthritis arthritis, periarthritis of shoulder, sciatica, cervical spondylosis, muscle ligament injury, ect.
(2) Non-thermal effect: when the change in the current intensity is too small to increase the body temperature, high-frequency current can still cause vibration and rotation of ions, charged colloids and dipoles, and might change the growth and biophysical characteristics in the tissue, i.e. the electromagnetic field oscillation effect. Applicable to the acute phase of inflammation and the acute phase of soft tissue injury.
Principle
Under the effect of microwave, the charged particles and polarized molecules in human body will generate the thermal effect by mutual friction due to vigorous activity, which can dilate the local tissue vessels, accelerate the blood circulation, accelerate the tissue metabolism, strengthen the phagocytosis of macrophages, promote the absorption of pathological metabolites, and bring the anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling and analgesic effects.
